Call for Entries FOR 2008
DEC. 7 , 2007 — NIFF is accepting entries
for the 2008 festival, which will be held June 3 to 8.
There are two ways of entering. The preferred method is via Without
A Box. To submit via Without A Box, click the image below.

The second method of entry is direct to NIFF. To enter via this
method, you'll need to download our printable application form (PDF).
Please read all submission regulations before

REGULATIONS:
1. Only films in 35mm or video format will be considered for presentation.
2. All films must have been completed after January 1, 2007.
3. Films must be presented in their original language with English language
subtitles for purposes of participation in the event.
PROCEDURES:
Enclose a labeled DVD. DVDs will not be returned. All entries must be accompanied
by the appropriate entry fee.
FILM LENGTH DEFINITION:
Feature films and documentaries: 60 minutes or longer; short films: 30
minutes or less.
We ask that you try to conform to these lengths to aid our task of scheduling
film screenings. If your film runs between 30 and 60 minutes, please contact
the Programming Director at programming@newportfilmfestival.com for permission
to submit.
DEADLINES:
Festival entries should be received by March 1, 2008. If you submit
before January 7, 2008 you will be eligible for an "early bird" discount.
There is also a "late" deadline of April 1, 2008. If accepted,
film prints are due no later than May 30, 2008.
NOTIFICATION OF RECEIPT:
Request receipt of confirmation from your shipper.
NOTIFICATION OF SELECTION:
Films are selected and invited to be shown at NIFF by the Executive Director,
Programming Director and screening committee. Notification of acceptance
will be determined by late April/early May of 2007.
SHIPPING:
NIFF will provide standard return shipping within the continental U.S.
Expedited shipping must be paid for by filmmaker or distributor.
INSURANCE:
All selected films at NIFF will be insured during the period that they
are in the Festival's possession.
TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY:
It is NIFF's intention to provide, within its budget, accommodation
for each filmmaker whose work is selected to attend. However, given certain
restraints, acceptance to NIFF in no way guarantees that the festival
will pay for or reimburse the travel or housing costs of each filmmaker.
COMPETITION AND AWARDS:
A panel of jurists comprised of filmmaker and professionals in the various
fields of cinema will award the Festival's Best Feature, Best Documentary,
Best Short (Narrative and Doc). Audience Awards will also be presented.
